Although mediation is used extensively these days to resolve conflict issues, there are both advantages as well as mediation disadvantages and this is primarily due to the fact that the mediation process can be manipulated if one of the two conflicting parties has an element of power over the other party. There are a number of situations where mediation will not work as well as numerous areas where it is ideal for resolving various types of conflict.
